About Us

Hi! Welcome to our “about us” page! We are about to embark on a journey that will take us all over this fabulous country of ours while mostly boondocking! What is boondocking, you ask? See the page above for more information! It’s what RV’s are made for.

Exactly who are we? We are Mark & Shelly… husband and wife and absolute best friends. We are in our 40’s and decided early on that we would hit the road and retire early… working where needed and traveling the rest of the time. So we decided to explore the RV’ing lifestyle and decided it was exactly what we were looking for! We especially like the fact we could bring our pets along as they are extremely important to us. More on them later! πŸ™‚

About Mark: Mark is a master mechanic and a “jack-of-all-trades” in the sense he can fix and/or create anything. He is also musically inclined and plays guitar. There is nothing better than sitting outside by a fire with a nice glass of wine while he plays. To me that is a perfect evening. He is truly gifted and I am a very lucky woman indeed! He is also one of the kindest people you will ever meet. Β He is retired due to a severe back injury received on the job.

About Shelly: Who am I? Photographer, tech junkie, artist, jewelry designer. The one who loves her Apple products and Canon cameras/lenses and her cat Shine with a passion. Some would say eclectic, some would say tough as nails (they would be right) and some might say something else entirely.. lol. But c’est la vie! I’m the one behind the words of the blog as well. Mark will always have input, especially about mechanical stuff, but it is up to me to keep it updated and (hopefully) interesting!

Between the two of us we are a pretty good balance. We just mesh. πŸ™‚ For those of you interested in what we look like here ya go:

Mark & Shelly ~ Hilton Head Island, South Carolina

Now for the rest of the gang. They would say they are the most important and they would probably be right. πŸ™‚

Shine (aka His Majesty) RIP 10/11/2003 – 4/28/2015Β

About Shine:Β Shine was an Oriental shorthair cat. He is 11 years old as of 10/2014. He was a former show cat having garnered his Grand Championship when he was just 18 months old. He had traveled all over the southeast going to shows and he was a great little traveler. He was very demanding when it’s time to eat and had the voice to go with his personality. He loved everyone and felt it was his job to greet everyone at the door. He also loved to sleep on my head. I miss him every day!

The Tank:

About Tank:Β Tank is a black lab, who is also 10 years old as of 9/2014. We call him Mr. DuFuss. He is kind of a dork and is a big goober. Tank lost his buddy Shine 4/2015 and is still pretty sad. Unlike most labs Tank hates the water. Something must of happened to him before he was born because he avoids water like the plague! We know he will love the RV lifestyle as well.

We also have a daughter who is in college and is on the verge of starting her own life. We will post about her on occasion as we are very proud of the young woman she is becoming and maybe we’ll be able to convince her to hit the road with us from time to time! We will see. πŸ™‚

Thank you all who are visiting our blog and we hope you enjoy what you read! Be sure to post a comment if you do!

We too are in our 40’s and are trying to hit the road next spring but finding a healthcare plan is challenging. How did you go about finding coverage?
