Mammoth Lakes, CA

September 7, 2015

Our time is winding down in the Mammoth Lakes area.  We will have been here nearly three weeks in one location.  We have enjoyed this area immensely and while we will be sad to leave we will be more than overjoyed to head to New Mexico!

We stayed put for awhile to save some money and to relax a bit.  We found a great campground close to Mammoth Lakes (9 miles away) called Glass Creek Campground.  It is a National Forest Campground that is FREE with a 21 day stay limit!

I won’t do a major review of the campground as Nina of Wheeling It did a very good one not that far back.  You can read that HERE to get more detailed info.

So what will we be doing in New Mexico?  The Balloon Fiesta!!! October 2-11.  It is held annually in Albuquerque and if you’ve never witnessed it, it is definitely a sight to behold.  We will also be visiting friends, eating green chile and basically just taking in everything that makes New Mexico unique.

It will be kind of a homecoming for me as I was stationed there at Kirkland AFB for 4 years.  I loved the area then and I can’t wait to go back to visit.

So as we will be traveling for a few days through southern California and Arizona we will probably be a bit quiet.  We hope everyone had a safe and enjoyable Labor Day weekend!  We look forward to hopefully meeting many of you at the Balloon Fiesta!
